The City of Fresno maintains public records consistent with the California Public Records Act (Gov. Code § 7920 et seq.) and the Brown Act (Gov. Code § 54957.5).
Meeting records
Agendas, minutes, packets, and video recordings for past Council meetings are available on the meeting calendar. Records are retained as follows:
- Agendas and minutes: permanent
- Meeting video: 5 years
- Audio recordings: 30 days from approval of the minutes (Gov. Code § 54953.5)
- Public comment correspondence: retained as part of the meeting record

Request a record
To request a public record that is not posted here, submit a written request to the City Clerk's Office:

We will respond within 10 days with a determination, per Gov. Code § 7922.535. Complex requests may require additional time, with written notice extending the response period by up to 14 days.
Historical archive
Records older than 10 years may be archived at the Fresno County Public Library — California History & Genealogy Room, or at the Fresno County Archives. Contact the City Clerk for assistance locating archived materials.
